How long can someone collect unemployement in MN?

My husband has been our of work for 4 months now and is collecting unemployment, he was in management in a small company that made candles. He has worked for this company for 10 years! Due to this economy and sales of retailers. His company shut down and went out of biz. There product line was bought by a different company in the east coast. Husband has been sending out resumes left and right and its hard to get a response, he even follows up with phone calls ect. No luck. He has had about 5 interviews but nothing came about it. I am worried he is kind of getting depressed:( He has been collecting unemployment for 4 months now so he has 2 more months of regular. I have been hearing of extensions ect, just wondering if anyone knows what they are. Husband dose not think there is such a thing? He said i guess once it runs out I go work at McDonald or Walmart for 8 bucks an hour. I keep reminding him its the "times" you are not alone, You have over 15 years of management experience, You have a 4 year degree in Management. You are loyal to a company Last one you were at for 10 years
sorry to give you the whole story but i am kind of worried about him, I would appreciate any answer about unemployment Extension. Neither of us have ever been on unemployment

I guess it’s not much comfort to know that you aren’t alone in your situation. For someone who’s hardworking and is used to being steadily employed, it’s even worse.

Yes there are two extensions after the initial 26 weeks. Google "unemployment extension MN" for info.

If he’s gotten some interviews, that’s a good sign. Good luck.

i believe Obama extended the unemployement benefits for up to two years now for all states. im from FL and i know for a fact that we can collect for two years. hope this helps and good luck!
